Itinerary: This 8-day Mediterranean cruise offers an opportunity to explore parts of Spain, Italy, and France. The cruise departs from Barcelona on Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 at 18.00 (PM) and returns back to Barcelona on Wednesday September 9th, 2015 at 9.00 AM. The conference program plans to leave about 5 hours free-time per day between the morning and afternoon session so you can (re)discover the cities visited by the cruise, or explore the ship and enjoy its many amenities. The cruise will tour the Mediterranean visiting the following cities/ports:

- Naples

A marvelous city at the foot of the Vesuvio, Europe’s second-largest active volcano full of history and inspiring architecture. You can also try the authentic Naples pizza. Close to Naples, you can reach in 30 minutes (by train) the world-famous archaeological sites of Pompeii and Hercolaneum that preserved the tragic memory of Vesuvius’ eruption in 79 AD. Alternatively, you can take a short boat trip to Capri. In about one hour by ferry, you will have the opportunity to visit the ‘island of love’ and feel like an ancient Roman emperor.

- Civitavecchia

In approximately one hour, Rome (the eternal city) can be reached by train. In this unique historical city you can walk into the Coloseum, discover fabulous ruins, imperial temples, walk by the churches that witnessed the birth of Christendom, ask for an audience with the Pope in the Vatican City and wonder with the Sixtine Chapel, visit the ancient Etruscan tombs, medieval bell towers, Renaissance palaces and baroque basilicas or just simple get lost in this magical city. If the busy live of Rome does not attract you, you can visit the closer, authentic and more relaxing town of Tarquinia.

- La Spezia

From this port and within less then half an hour by train you can reach the "Cinque Terre", an amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy visiting its beutiful small towns: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso squeezed between the mountains and the sea, with wonderful breath-taking panoramas and restaurants that master the traditional Italian cousine.
Also in about one hour by train you can visit Pisa with its world-famous Tower or Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Reinessance, rich of historical treasures like Uffizi Gallery, Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. Nearby Lucca offers a less crowded while genuine experience of Tuscany.

- Cannes

A glamourus seaside town of the Cote d’Azur in the French Riviera with a beautiful waterfront promenade and the Palais des Festivals, venue of the yearly film festival. At about an hour by train along the coast of the Cote d’Azur, you can visit Nice or Monaco.

- Palma de Mallorca

Mallorca, one of the top European summer destinations, may charm you in many ways: its weather, the island's beautiful coast, nature, stirring landscapes, or nightlife. Palma, its capital, is a mixture of modern and old architecture, with the Old Town having narrow streets, and showing the restored cathedral standing proud and tall in the center of town.

- Barcelona

And of course, don't miss the opportunity to explore Barcelona, one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in Europe. Explore the buildings by its most famous architect, Gaudi, like the famous "La Sagrada Familia" "or get lost in the Gothic town, enjoy its vivid cultural life and don't forget to taste some good tapas. If you get lucky you may even walk into Leo Messi or other football superstar.




Conference Room(s)
The talks will take place mostly in the room named "Black and White" which is equipped with a proyector and audio system. In ocasions, some talks may take place in the theater and/or a room above the "Black and White" and named "Sky and Stars".




What is included in your reservation:
The total cost of the conference ranges between 950-1150 euro per person (see the registration page for more details) depending on the kind of room and includes the following:

  • Fee of the conference (applies to participants only)
  • Room in a shared cabin for 8 days (7 nights) of cruise with the "Experiencia Fantastica" (special offer for the participants)
  • Taxes
  • Free buffet 24h (including coffe)
  • Lunch, and dinner at the restaurant (with the possibility to have dinner in a reserved area during the 1st turn of dinner)
  • Breakfast in bed (and of course in the restaurants)
What is NOT included in your reservation:

  • Alcoholic drinks (see cruise packages)
  • Internet (packages can be purchased at the ship at about 10-17 EUR per hour)

We also encourage you to bring your family with you (please note that there is a limited number of cabins available for families so early reservation is recomended. This option will be available only until filled.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: the prices are per person and intended for a double-room cabin. If you are not coming with an accompanying person, you can choose to:
- share the cabin with another participant (you have the possibility to suggest the name of a participant you know is also attending the conferebce in the registration form)
- book a cabin for single use
(There is a small limited number of cabins available for single use and their cost is significantly higher. This option will be available only until filled)

Conference details: A preliminary version of the program will be published by the 15th of January. The final program will be published by Augist 1st. The conference will consist of approximately 30 hours of talks and discussions with a round table at the end of each day.
